PESHAWAR: The police on Wednesday arrested a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Iman Tahir soon after the Peshawar High Court (PHC) granted her a transit bail.
Iman Tahir, the daughter of a former MNA Major (Retired) Tahir, had turned to the PHC for securing a transit bail. She was facing three cases. The court granted her the transit bail for two personal sureties and Rs 100,000.
As long as she came out of the PHC premises, police deployed there took her into custody. This led to a scuffle between the lawyers affiliated with the PTI and the police. The PTI lawyers were of the opinion that Iman Tahir’s arrest even after securing a transit bail by the PHC was a violation of the court orders. Peshawar High Court Bar Association President Tariq Afridi, general secretary Lajbar Khan and a senior lawyer Fida Gul, meanwhile, intervened to diffuse the tension. They assured the PTI lawyers that all actions would be taken as per the law.
