ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Shahbaz Sharif, instead of appearing before the Inquiry Commission constituted to probe the Faizabad sit-in, asked for the commission to send him questionnaire to reply what the commission wants to enquire, the sources said.
Shahbaz Sharif was summoned by the Inquiry Commission to record his statement regarding the issue as he was Punjab chief minister when the sit-in was staged, to appear in-person on Jan 3 (Wednesday). The Commission, agreed to his request, has sent 21-point questionnaire to reply within limited time, the sources maintained.
While, former Director Inter Services Intelligence, Lieutenant General (R) Faiz Hameed was summoned twice by the Inquiry Commission but didn’t respond yet, the sources said and claimed that the commission is thinking to record his statement on video link. The Commission would submit his inquiry report on 22nd of January, 2024.
