ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) former MNA Ali Nawaz Awan on Tuesday surrendered before the court and got interim bail in case for violating Section 144 in connection with the incidents of May 9.

The defense counsel argued before the judicial magistrate that the cases registered against Ali Nawaz were baseless, and the accused was actively participating in the investigation.

After considering the arguments, the court granted interim bail to Ali Nawaz against the surety bonds of Rs20,000. Subsequently, the court adjourned the hearing till January 10.

In another case, Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) leader Manzoor Pashteen has been granted bail on an FIR filed at Tarnol Police Station, Islamabad after a rally was held by the PTM on August 18, 2023. The defendant counsel argued before the court that in the case other accused were given bails, so the PTM chief should also be granted bail.

Pashteen was arrested on December 5 from Chaman, Balochistan, and has been facing series of cases filed against him by various law enforcement agencies. He has been kept in Adiala jail till last week when his bail was approved by an anti-terrorism court.

He was arrested again in two other cases and was sent on physical remand for two days last week. After completion of physical remand he was sent on judicial remand last Saturday and his lawyers filed for bail application. After hearing the arguments, the judge ordered to release Pashteen against surety bonds of Rs5,000.
