LAHORE: Anti-Corruption Establishment Punjab registered a case against former health minister Dr Yasmin Rashid on the charges of appointing her daughter as assistant professor in King Edward Medical University against merit.
ACE Punjab spokesperson said that it transpired in an inquiry that Dr Yasmin Rashid misused her powers and appointed her daughter Dr Ayesha Ali against merit. The inquiry also revealed that she used her influence for her daughter’s job. Anti-Corruption Establishment Headquarters Lahore registered a case against Dr Yasmin Rashid and her daughter. The spokesperson further said that Dr Ayesha Ali did not meet the required criteria for the job at the time of her appointment, adding, her mother Dr Yasmin signed on experience certificate submitted by her. At the time of appointment, Dr Ayesha Ali’s age was 47 years in contrast to the required age of 40 years. Dr Ayesha did not submit any application at any forum for age relaxation as per law, according to the findings of the inquiry. It added that she was given preference over other candidates in the interview due to the influence of her mother who was the health minister at that time. Besides, Dr Ayesha went abroad against the rules soon after getting the job.
