Terms, conditions for post of chairman drug courts reviewed

LAHORE : Caretaker Provincial Health Ministers Prof Dr Javed Akram and Dr Jamal Nasir reviewed the terms and conditions for the post of chairman Drug Courts during a meeting held at the Department of Primary and Secondary Healthcare.

On this occasion, Dr Javed Akram said that currently there are six drug courts in Lahore, Bahawalpur, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Multan and Rawalpindi. We are in favour of indiscriminate action against the elements involved in the illegal purchase and sale of drugs, he added. Dr Jamal Nasir said that the post of Chairman Drug Courts is very important and in this regard, full guidance is being obtained from the Law Department.

Significance of AI in medical research

A post-conference workshop on Artificial Intelligence in medical research was held at the Department of Medical Education, Fatima Jinnah Medical University on Tuesday.

Prof Dr Mukhtar Hasan Randhawa and Dr Munira Ahmad were the guests of honour. This academic activity was organised under the convenorship of Principal FJMC/HOD Obst. & Gynae Unit 2 Prof Dr Noreen Akmal. Prof Bilquis Shabbir, Prof Imran Aslam, Prof Shamila Ijaz, Prof Naeem Afzal, Prof Amna Euseph, Prof Musarrat Nisar, Dr Mah Laqa Rana and other faculty members participated in this innovative workshop. Prof Noreen said Artificial Intelligence is playing a significant role in Obstetrics & Gynaecology through diagnosis, predicted outcomes, and improving patient care.

AI can assist healthcare providers in improving the quality of patient care, improving patient outcomes, and optimising source utilisation. Regarding medical education, AI is playing a significant role by introducing innovative approaches to teaching, learning, and accessing medical professionals.
