ISLAMABAD: Zafar Bakhtawari, a former president of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) and secretary general of the United Business Group (UBG), praised the election of Atif Ikram Sheikh and Saqib Fayyaz Magoo as the new president and senior vice president of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), calling it a positive development for the country's economy.
Bakhtawari said the UBG's success in the FPCCI elections was a result of the joint efforts of the business community, which has taken significant steps to formulate better policies in the challenging economic conditions of Pakistan.
He said the new FPCCI leadership would effectively represent the voice of the business community on policy forums and urged the FPCCI to consult the ICCI and other major trade organizations to make effective policies for the better growth of the economy.
Bakhtawari also called on the government, institutions, and political parties to involve the business community as stakeholders in policymaking to steer Pakistan out of difficulties.
He said the UBG would play an effective role in creating harmony among all the stakeholders at the national level regarding the economy.
