ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa will resume his duties on Monday (today) after the winter vacation.
As head of a three-member bench, he would hear various cases at the principal seat of Islamabad.
The CJP had gone to Turkey to spend his winter vacation, and in his absence, the most senior judge, Justice Sardar Tariq Masood, performed duties as the acting chief justice of Pakistan.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) would hear an application, filed by Justice Mazahar Naqvi against stopping the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) proceedings against him on January 8, 2024.
Earlier, the court had denied his request to stop proceedings on Dec 15, 2023.
Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi had challenged the two show-cause notices, issued by the SJC in the Supreme Court on Nov 30, and requested for declaring them null and void.
Meanwhile, the SCJ will hold its first hearing of the new year on January 11 regarding disciplinary action against the SC judge.
While the response sought by the SJC is likely to be filed on Monday by Justice Mazahar Naqvi through Khawaja Haris Advocate.
The SJC, under the chairmanship of CJP Qazi Faez Isa, had held an open hearing against Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi and adjourned it till January 11, while seeking an answer by January 1.
Justice Mazahar had demanded the SJC open proceedings against him. He had written a letter to the SJC in this regard.
