Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab, Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad, Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Engineer Syed Salahuddin Ahmed and Chief Operating Officer (COO) Engineer Asadullah Khan on Sunday extended their best wishes to all the elected office bearers of the Karachi Press Club (KPC).
The annual elections of the KPC were held on Saturday. The entire Democrats panel won the elections.
Saeed Sarbazi and Shoaib Ahmed were elected as the president and general secretary of the KPC for another term. Abdul Rasheed Memon was elected as the vice president, Muhammad Mansif as the joint secretary and Ehtisham Saeed Qureshi as the treasurer.
The elected governing body members of the KPC are Shazia Hasan, Shams Keerio, Noor Muhammad, Nawab Qureshi, Mamona Siddiqui, Rana Javed and Shoaib Ahmed.
In a message, the mayor and deputy mayor said the democratic and journalistic traditions of the KPC were commendable.
They added that everyone recognised the dynamic role of the KPC in strengthening democracy in the country along with working for the welfare of the journalist community.
"The Pakistan Peoples Party has always stood by the side of journalists in their struggle for rights," the mayor said. He expressed the hope that the Democrats panel would serve the journalistic community and promote constructive and objective journalism in the country.
In a separate message, the KWSC CEO and COO said the consistent success of the Democratic Panel reflected the trust of the Karachi Press Club's members in them. They said the KPC played a pivotal role in the progress of the country.
