LAHORE: Following the directions of Chairman NAB, Lt. Gen (retd) Nazir Ahmed, the NAB Lahore Director General (DG), Amjad Majeed Aulakh held an Open Court to address the queries of the affectees.
Amjad Majeed Aulakh conducted the sixth monthly Open Hearing (Khuli Ketchary) at the NAB Lahore office and announced that the disbursement of millions of rupees among the scam affectees would start from December 2023. Aulakh clarified that NAB officers are doing their best to recover the embezzled money. While submitting claims, the affectees of Palm Vista Housing Society told NAB that the administration of said society lured the general public by selling hundreds of acres while they merely 206 Kanal-approved land with them. When the payments were sought the Palm Vista Housing Society provided cheques that bounced. DG NAB Lahore ordered to initiation of scrutiny in the case.
While talking to the affectees of the Pak-Arab Housing Society, DG NAB Aulakh said that the Bureau has successfully recovered Rs1.4 billion, while the remaining amount of Rs 2.4 billion would be recovered from the accused. DG NAB Aulakh also maintained that NAB would compensate all affectees on an equal basis and approach Hon’ble Courts in case of non-compliance with court orders by accused.
Addressing the affectees of Bin-Alam Society, DG NAB Lahore maintained that NAB has confiscated all the known properties found under the names of the accused persons. A reference against the society is under trial in Lahore’s trial court, in which 100 witnesses have recorded their statements. While the co-accused were languishing behind bars for four years until the Hon’ble Supreme Court admitted their bail pleas. DG NAB Lahore directed the Investigation team to enhance their efforts to conclude the case.
While talking to the affectees of Model Housing Enclave, Amjad Majeed Aulakh announced that NAB Lahore had recovered Rs2.46 billion, which was returned to the affectees. The remaining amount of Rs460 million will also be returned soon.
Participating in the Open Court, the affectees of Al-Haram Tractors told the meeting that the owners of said fraudulent company grabbed millions on the promise of delivering tractors on five-year instalments but vanished after collecting millions. DG NAB ordered the collection of all claims from affectees to start necessary proceedings against culprits.
