Two injured resisting mugging bid
Two people were wounded in a firing incident in the SITE area on Friday.
The incident took place near Habib Bank Chowrangi in where armed motorcyclists opened fire at a car, injuring two persons.
Following the incident, police and rescuers reached the crime scene and transported the casualties to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where the injured persons were identified as 40-year-old Mazhar and Salman Ali, 30. The bullets hit the victims’ legs.
Initial investigations suggest that the incident unfolded as a result of resistance during a robbery while the police are collecting evidence. Four assailants on two motorcycles were chasing a car from the Nazimabad area and as they reached the bridge in the SITE area, they attempted to loot the occupants. After some conversation, they fired shots, injuring both persons, and fled with a bag of money, said the police.
Road accident
A woman died, and four others were wounded in a road accident on Jinnah Bridge on Friday.
The accident took place when a passenger bus turned upside down. Following the accident, police and rescuers reached the scene and transported the casualties to the Civil Hospital, Karachi, (CHK) where the deceased woman was identified as 58-year-old Shamim Akhtar, wife of Ahmed Zaman.
