Injured DAO staffer dies at hospital

SIALKOT: Akram Butt, an official of the District Accounts Office, who was shot at and injured allegedly by his colleague one week ago, died at a hospital in Lahore on Wednesday.
Akram Butt, Muhammad Usman and Tariq Maqsood were shot at and injured allegedly by their colleague Muhammad Usman over some dispute on the premises of the District Accounts Office about a week ago. All the injured persons were being shifted to a hospital in Lahore but Tariq Maqsood died on the way while Akram Butt and Muhammad Usman were under treatment. Akram Butt was the ex-president of the employees union of the Account Office. Police have registered another case against accused Muhammad Usman who has already been arrested.
Indian-made landmine defused

SIALKOT: The Bomb Disposal Squad on Wednesday defused 5kg Indian-made landmine near the bank of Nullah Dek, Mandi Tharoh village.
Some villagers saw Indian-made landmine and informed the Phalora police and the Bomb Disposal Squad. The officials rushed to the spot and defused the landmine.
Reports indicate that they tried to breach one of gates, harassed staff, and even scaled walls of premises
