Minister assures efforts to equip youth with skills
PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Caretaker Minister for Sports, Youth Affairs, Science and Technology Dr Najeeb Ullah has said that the provision of different skills to youth is the need of the hour, saying skill development programmes will solve the problem of unemployment.
Appreciating the interim chief minister’s “Skilling Youth” programme, he said that through the said programme, 0.5 million youth would be trained for getting skills in various sectors.The minister said this while chairing a meeting regarding the “Skilling Youth” programme.
Director General Science and Information Technology KP Sajid Hussain Shah, Director China Study Center University of Peshawar Dr Kausar Takreem and other officials attended the meeting.
Dr Kausar gave a detailed presentation on courses and programmes offered by the Zhenghe College of China. She said that the educational concept of Zhenghe college is production, study and industry, adding that the college is more focused on the practical knowledge of students and employment of the talents.
“Students of the last educational semester of Zhenghe College System will be sent to China through students’ exchange while jobs will be offered in all the countries which have joined the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) on completion of their training,” Dr Kausar said.
The minister said that youth would be trained in different sectors including education, agriculture, science and information technology, paramedics, sports, youth affairs, vocational and other sectors.
