IGP visits SOS Village, distributes gifts among children
LAHORE:Inspector General Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar visited SOS Village and watched a cricket match between Girls Cricket Team of Punjab Police and Girls Team of SOS Children Village.
Senior officers, including MD Punjab Safe Cities Authority Ahsan Younas, CTO Lahore Amara Athar, ASP Shahr Bano Naqvi accompanied the IGP.
IG Punjab and CTO Lahore distributed football, cricket bat, badminton racket and other sports equipment among the children. He encouraged the young players participating in the match. On this occasion, prizes and gifts were also distributed among the players by the Punjab Police.
IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar played cricket with the orphans at SOS Village Sports Ground. He said that today we have come to share happiness with the children living in SOS Village, we want to spread a smile on the faces of these children by giving them some moments of happiness.
Dr Usman Anwar said that the Punjab Police were taking all possible measures to support orphans and destitute children from the platform of the Protection Centre and in this regard, more measures would be continued with the cooperation of other public and private institutions.
Meanwhile, IGP also visited Model Town SDPO Office and Special Initiative Police Station Gulberg and inspected the ongoing construction works near completion. He reviewed the completion of Saiban project at SDPO office Model Town.
He said that provision of modern facilities and deployment of best human resources would be ensured in Saiban offices, With the Saiban project, crackdown on anti-social elements would be more effective along with effective community policing measures at the circle level. IG Punjab further said that Saiban office would play a significant role in crime control and provision of policing services to citizens.
Later, Dr Usman Anwar visited Special Initiative Police Station Gulberg and inspected the ongoing construction work. He said that the upgradation work of the police stations should be completed on the special initiative protocol by December 31 and no compromise should be made on the quality. The officers present on the spot briefed the IG Punjab about the completion, design and layout of the ongoing works.
