This letter refers to the news report ‘iPhones snatched from army officer on Malir Cantt Road recovered within 48 hours’ (December 22, 2023). This was a commendable effort by the police and credit should be given where it is due. It also demonstrates that if police employ technical expertise and due diligence, they can curb all kinds of crimes going on in the urban areas.
One hopes that the police will bring more technology into its fold to help ordinary citizens. I was born and raised in Karachi and still remember when we left our main gates unbolted and socialized within our neighbourhoods like extended families without any fear.
