PESHAWAR: The lawyers affiliated with the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam -Fazl (JUIF) on Friday staged a protest on the premises of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) after alleging that a particular political party was receiving preferential treatment.
The members of the Jamiat Lawyers Forum (JLF) gathered at the PHC to voice concerns. They were carrying placards inscribed with slogans in support of a fair dispensation of justice and against the selective justice system.
The forum president, Jalaluddin Advocate, alleged that the PHC was giving favoured treatment to a particular political party and the practice continued. He said that this treatment was creating a wrong impression among the masses about the judiciary. The JLF chief said that the alleged practice needed to be changed to uphold the dignity of the judiciary.
It may be mentioned here that the lawyers from the Awami National Party had staged a similar protest recently. The protest had led to a scuffle with the lawyers from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
