Sports sciences training course ends
LAHORE:The 5-day Track and Field Sports Sciences Course of Punjab’s provincial and divisional coaches concluded at Institute of Sports Sciences Punjab (ISSP) here at Punjab Stadium on Friday.
Secretary Youth Affairs Punjab Shahid Zaman was the chief guest at the closing ceremony where he distributed certificates among the participating coaches. ISSP Principal Chand Parveen, Chief Instructor Hafeez Bhatti, and Instructors Shaista Qaiser and Sajid Ali were also present.
Communication skills and Philosophy of Coaching were topics on the last day on which lecturer Talha Iftikhar delivered an insightful lecture. He said that the philosophical approach of a coach played a key role in identifying positives and negatives of an athlete. “A coach should be a good teacher and mentor with a friendly attitude”.
Regarding communication, Talha taught the coaches that there should be a 2-way communication between a coach and his player. A competent trainer remains ready every time to redress any grievances of his players. He also threw light on two types of communication – verbal and non-verbal during his in-depth lecture.
Addressing the closing ceremony, Secretary Youth Affairs Punjab announced that expert trainers will be invited from other countries for the international level training of our coaches. “Not only this but we will also send our coaches abroad to equip them with modern coaching techniques and training methods.
For this purpose we will use all options, including online training from a master trainer”. He said that all the credit of holding of modern training courses goes to Dr Asif Tufail. “It was his idea and he deserved huge appreciation on holding of modern training courses quite successfully in true professional manner,” he added.
After the completion of 5-day course, the participating 20 coaches including three females appeared in written examination under the supervision of ISSP principal, chief instructor and instructors.
