Search committee interviews candidates for Balochistan public universities VCs
The committee entrusted with the task of identifying vice chancellors for Balochistan's public universities has concluded interviews with candidates and forwarded a panel of names to the provincial cabinet.
Chaired by Dr Asma Haider Baloch, the convener of the committee, the meeting was attended by Dr Bika Ram, Dr Rafi Kakar, Dr Abdul Razzaq Saber, Principal Secretary of Governor Balochistan Muhammad Hashim Ghazali and Secretary Colleges and Higher Education Zafar Ali Buladi.
The search committee had recommended three names for the position of vice chancellor at the University of Balochistan, Quetta: Dr Dost Muhammad Baloch, Dr Muhammad Anwer Panezai, and Dr Zahoor Ahmed Bazi. Meanwhile, for the Lasbela University of Agriculture and Marine Sciences, the candidates proposed are Dr Abdul Malik Tareen, Dr Ahmed-Ur-Rehman Saljoqi, and Dr Jahanwas Karim. Singularly, Dr Rubina Mushtaq had been nominated as the sole female candidate for Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University.
Dr Muhammad Anwer Panezai, who previously held the top position in the VC selection for Mir Chakkar Khan University, Sibbi, has once again emerged as a candidate. Despite being a distinguished researcher and recognised for his integrity, he was sidelined in the previous round. Additionally, Dr Dost Muhammad Baloch, having completed two tenures as VC in LUAMS, Uthal, is among the proposed candidates.
The cabinet will make the final selection, marking a crucial step in determining the leadership of these educational institutions in Balochistan.
