PESHAWAR: Peshawar High Court (PHC) has granted transit bail to three leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Punjab chapter, and directed them to appear before the respective courts.
A single PHC bench, headed by Chief Justice Muhammad Ibrahim Khan, heard the bail requests of Saeed Ahmed Sandhu, a candidate from Lahore’s NA-20 and PP-154 Lahore, Nadeem Abbas Bhara from PP-160 Lahore, and Malik Karamat, a PTI ticket holder for NA-135.
During the hearing, the lawyers argued that their clients were nominated on May 9, and no evidence implicated them in the events of that day. They said the Peshawar High Court had granted relief to multiple applicants in similar cases, and they requested the same for their clients. The court accepted the plea.
Meanwhile, a two-member bench, consisting of Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim and Justice Sahibzada Asadullah, heard the bail request of PTI’s former MPA Ali Asghar Chaudhry.
The court inquired about the petitioner’s current location and his lawyer clarified that he is in Saudi Arabia for Umrah. Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim suggested that the petitioner approach a court in Lahore, given that the petitioner is a resident of Lahore.
