LAHORE:Master trainer Talha Iftikhar taught the coaches about biomechanics of athletics disciplines, including running, throwing, jumping and sprinting during his in depth lecture at Institute of Sports Sciences Punjab (ISSP) at Punjab Stadium on Thursday.
Talha, who is a certified referee, coach and lecturer of World Athletics, delivered an insightful lecture on the 4th day of Track and Field Course being attended by 20 coaches including three females. He told the coaches about the latest techniques of starting a race, direction of bones, role of muscles, acceleration phase and flight phase during an in depth lecture.
He said that a coach must know about the strengths and weak points of his athletes and he should plan his strategy accordingly. Later, Talha supervised a practical session in Punjab Stadium in which he taught the coaches about modern techniques of running, throwing and jumping. He said that a correct and perfect start of any athletics event could play a crucial role in winning a medal and that’s why a coach must focus on proper launching of an athletics event besides emphasizing on other phases of the event.
