Citizens stage sit-in to demand road construction
PESHAWAR: Khalil Mohmand Afridi Ittehad Committee on Wednesday staged a protest on the Ring Road at the Pishtakhara Chowk to force the government to complete the Bara Road construction work.
The protest was led by leaders of the Bara Siyasi Ittihad and Khalil Mohmand tribes, including Kashif Azam, Shah Faisal Afridi, Shahzad Khalil and Qari Zahid.
The protesters started the march from the Bara Road in Sarband village and converged at the Pishtakhara Chowk on Ring Road where the protesters staged a sit-in.
They said a lack of interest in the construction of the Bara Road was causing difficulties to residents of several areas and commuters.The protesters said the contractors had discarded the old road but now nobody was there to start work to construct the road. The speakers said the dust was spreading diseases in the areas .
