LAHORE:Secretary Emergency Services Department Dr Rizwan Naseer Wednesday paid rich tributes to Shaheed rescuers who sacrificed their lives protecting lives and properties of citizens.
Addressing a ceremony on the occasion of Rescuers Shuhada Day, Dr Rizwan said December 20 is commemorated as Rescue Shuhada day as it was the most tragic fire incident in the history of the country when 13 firefighters embraced martyrdom during rescue and firefighting operation in Ghakkar Plaza, Rawalpindi in 2008.
He said rescuers and firefighters are highly respected across the world as they risk their lives to save others. He along with senior Rescue Officers of Emergency Services Headquarters and Academy offered special prayers for Shaheed Rescuers and put wreaths at Rescue Shuhada Wall established in Emergency Services Headquarters. He said Shaheed rescuers are our heroes and their fellow officers and colleagues must follow their commitment and devotion to establish healthy, safe and resilient Pakistan.
