Judges always welcomed lawbreakers: Nawaz
Nawaz said the judges always welcomed those with bouquets who abrogated the Constitution, dissolved parliament and packed democracy
LAHORE: PMLN Quaid and former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Tuesday said the judges always welcomed those with bouquets who abrogated the Constitution, dissolved parliament and packed democracy.
Addressing the 13th meeting of the party’s parliamentary board here, he said the country was doing well in 2017 when the policies of his government were delivering far-reaching results.
Nawaz and the party President Shehbaz Sharif presided over the meeting.
“Industrialization was taking place and growth was on the upward trajectory but after two and a half years, our government was abolished and an incompetent person was imposed on the nation,” he said.
Nawaz said dollar was not allowed to fluctuate for four years, but as soon as the PTI founders came to power, it went out of reach.
“RTS was closed to get them into power. Sadly, we remained silent even after seeing all this happening,” said Nawaz.
The former premier said parliamentarians from other parties were picked up to bring about Tabdeli, which was not more than an illusion.
At that time, it was said that Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz should not come out of jail; otherwise, their two years of hard work will go down the drain. He said the nation wanted to know what kind of that hard work was.
“We all witnessed that and remained silent, which led the country to the present sorry state. Neither India nor America or Afghanistan did this to us, we did this to ourselves,” said Nawaz.
The meeting interviewed suitable candidates from Faisalabad Division and considered applications for more than 150 party tickets.
Talking to the media after the meeting, Ahsan Iqbal said no seat adjustment was done and only winning candidates were fielded. He said in spite of the government of political opponents, they gave development plans to Sindh.
Speaking on the occasion, PMLN Sindh President Bashir Memon said all decisions were being taken by Nawaz Sharif.
Since Nawaz played an important role in making Sindh peaceful, he was needed there, he said,
adding that consultations were going on with the MQM, GDA and other parties for seat adjustments in Sindh.
Senior Vice President and Chief Organizer Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Vice President and former chief minister of Punjab Hamza Shehbaz, head of election cell Ishaq Dar, Secretary General Ahsan Iqbal, PMLN Punjab President Rana Sanaullah, central and provincial office-bearers and divisional coordinators attended the meeting.
