Initiatives to advance women’s rights discussed

LAHORE: Women Development Department (WDD) secretary Sumaira Samad Monday discussed collaborative initiatives aimed at advancing women's rights with Ms Khadija Yasmin Bokhari, Director of Litigation & Advocacy, and Sajjad Hussain Nekokara, Legal Associate on Monday.

The meeting explored initiatives aimed at advancing women's rights with a particular focus on marriage-related issues. Ms Bokhari expressed a deep interest in partnering with the WDD to champion initiatives addressing women's marriage rights.

The meeting indicated a shared commitment to fostering positive change in this critical aspect of women's lives. The secretary welcomed the collaboration, acknowledging the shared vision and commitment to future endeavors. During the discussions, potential areas of cooperation were identified, including the proposed launch of a campaign on "Legal Aid for Women Rights" in collaboration with WDD.

Samad suggested convening a meeting with the Public Prosecution Department to comprehensively address issues related to "Women Marriage Rights."To further enhance awareness and education, Secretary WDD recommended organizsng district-level sessions on "Nikah Registration."

In the meeting the both parties expressed a mutual commitment to establish a robust and impactful partnership. This collaboration aligns with the shared objective of creating a more just and equitable society.

The Women Development Department, Punjab, and Musawi look forward to a collaborative journey that contributes significantly to the enhancement of women's rights and legal awareness. Sajjad Hussain Nekokara represented "Musawi."
