KARACHI: Telenor Microfinance Bank (TMB), the operator of mobile money platform easypaisa, said on Monday that its operations and customer deposits were unaffected by the recent sale of Telenor Pakistan to a consortium led by Ant Group.
"TMB and easypaisa are not part of the recent transaction, and your deposits are completely secure," TMB said in a statement.
"We are an independent financial institution, licensed and governed by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). Our dedicated shareholders, Telenor B.V. and Ant Group, remain fully committed to TMB's ongoing transformation into a Digital Retail Bank, subject to regulatory approvals."
The bank said it would continue to offer a wide range of products and services within a robust digital banking framework. The bank also urged its customers to disregard any unsubstantiated rumors and to trust in its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of service and security.
"Our mission remains unwavering, to build a financially inclusive, digital Pakistan where everyone has access to safe, reliable, and affordable financial services," the bank said. "We are grateful for your trust and look forward to serving you long into the future."
