Aisam, Haase out of Nastase Tiriac Trophy
KARACHI: Pakistan’s Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and his partner Robin Hasse from the Netherlands lost in the first round of BRD Nastase Tiriac Trophy in Bucharest, Romania, on Monday.
The unseeded pair of Aisam and Simon, ranked 45th and 109th, respectively, was beaten by the fourth seed duo of Jonathan Erlich from Israel and Colin Fleming of England, ranked 50th and 60th, respectively, 7-6(3), 6-7(7), 6-10 in the men’s doubles category of this ATP-250 event.
“Very unfortunate result for us yesterday, losing by (7:6, 6:7, 6:10) against No 4 seeds team,” said Aisam on his facebook page. “We didn’t avail our chances and our opponents sentenced the match in the Super-Tiebreaker,” he added.
However, he was glad to see his partner Robin Haase back after his knee injury. “[I’m] looking forward to turn things around together in Nice and French Open. I’ll keep with the practices and hard work for another two days here in Bucharest before heading to my next destination: Estoril (Portugal) where I’ll be fighting together with Marin Draganja,” he added.
