Islamabad: In a three-day training workshop organized by the Centre for Democracy and Climate Studies (CDCS), speakers urged Pakistani journalists to engage in objective and factual reporting on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) to counter negative propaganda surrounding the vital project.
Bao Zhong, Counsellor of the Political and Media Section, Embassy of China to Pakistan, commended the media's role in promoting CPEC and emphasized the need to combat fake news.
The workshop aimed to equip journalists from Baluchistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with tools to contribute to the continued success of China-Pakistan relations. Former ambassador Naghmana Hashmi highlighted the importance of impartial reporting, while former Vice Chancellor Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmad underscored the significant role of higher education institutions in maximizing CPEC benefits.
Notable journalists and analysts, including Javed Iqbal, Rasheed Safi, Aoun Sahi, Sherish Qureshi, Mian Ibrar Hussain, and Muhammad Imran, also participated in the event.
