CM approves establishment of Iqbal museum

LAHORE : Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, in a significant move, has granted approval for the establishment of a museum showcasing historical items associated with the renowned Poet of the East, Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

This museum, located adjacent to Mazar-i-Iqbal, aimed to be a haven for those with a penchant for Iqbal knowledge.

Expressing the invaluable cultural significance of a museum dedicated to the poet of the East, Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi emphasized the importance of fostering awareness of Iqbal's legacy among the new generation.

During the meeting, it was disclosed that the museum dedicated to Allama Iqbal will find its place in the outer premises of the Badshahi Mosque. This dedicated space will house objects attributed to the poet, providing a consolidated display of items used by Allama Iqbal at various locations.

Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has issued prompt directives for the expeditious establishment of the Museum of the poet of the East. Furthermore, he has mandated the installation of top-quality tiles in the outer premises of Mazar-i-Iqbal, along with the provision of high-quality red sandstone and super white marble for the enhancement of Mazar-i-Iqbal.

In alignment with the comprehensive upgrade plan, the restoration of rooms within the Badshahi Mosque to their original condition was agreed upon during the meeting. Senior Member Board of Revenue Nabil Javed outlined additional initiatives, including the availability of all books of Allama Iqbal in the bookshop beside his tomb. Souvenir and craft shops are also slated for setup, enhancing the overall visitor experience.

Architectural enhancements, such as washing and polishing the inner marble of Allama Iqbal's shrine and waterproofing the roof of Mazar-i-Iqbal, are part of the comprehensive plan. Additionally, the relocation of facilities like canteens and shoe racks will be strategically undertaken.

The meeting, attended by notable figures such as renowned architect Nayyar Ali Dada, Muneeb Iqbal, Iqbal Salahuddin, Senior Member Board of Revenue, DG Walled City Authority, Secretary Auqaf, and the Head of Iqbal Academy, signifies a collective effort towards preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage associated with Allama Iqbal.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi conducted a comprehensive late-night inspection, visiting Children's Hospital, General Hospital, Service Center, and Band Road, dedicating four and a half hours to reviewing ongoing projects and services.

The Chief Minister, during the visit, emphasized the underground fitting of the biogas pipe and directed the re-insulation of the AC plant. Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi meticulously inspected various departments at Children's Hospital, including radiology, medical emergency, and OPD. He also toured the cancer ward, dental ward, and operation theatre. Expressing compassion, the Chief Minister consoled the mother of little Abu Bakr, who was admitted due to kidney failure.

The Chief Minister continued his visit at General Hospital, inspecting the emergency ward under completion and assessing the quality of the ongoing upgradation. Subsequently, he promptly reached the Liberty Service Center, interacting with citizens present there and encouraging those without licenses to obtain proper documentation.

Notably, Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi observed a noticeable reduction in the influx of citizens at the Liberty Service Center. During the visit, it was revealed that several citizens had been driving without licenses for an extended period. The Chief Minister urged citizens to acquire licenses and learner permits.

Further, Naqvi reviewed the 'Band Road Controlled Access' project, receiving a briefing from DG LDA at the site office. He inspected the entire route and, noting the need for internal and external ramps at Sagian, promptly called for a detailed plan.

The visit was conducted in the presence of Provincial Ministers Dr Javed Akram, Amir Mir, Azfar Ali Nasir, Provincial Secretary C&W, Secretary Health, Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, and other officials.

Moreover, Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi, in his message on the anniversary of the martyrs of Army Public School Peshawar, affirmed that the significance of December 16 will forever evoke the memory of the profound sacrifices made by the martyrs of Army Public School.

The Chief Minister emphasised that the nation would remain eternally indebted to the sacrifices of the children and teachers of Army Public School. He acknowledged that these young souls inscribed the history of a secure Pakistan with their precious blood, laying the foundation for a peaceful nation.

Highlighting the poignant contribution of the little children who offered their lives for a noble cause, Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi underscored that the martyrs of APS played a pivotal role in uniting the Pakistani nation against terrorism. He credited the great sacrifices for inspiring unprecedented unity and consensus throughout the nation's fight against terrorism.

The Chief Minister expressed that the unparalleled courage and determination drawn from the sacrifices of the martyred children led to the defeat of the brutal enemy, transforming Pakistan into a cradle of peace. He hailed the martyred children and teachers as heroes of the entire nation, extending heartfelt salutes to their families.

Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi conveyed complete solidarity with the families of APS martyrs, emphasizing that there is no room for terrorism and extremism in Quaid-e-Azam's Pakistan. He concluded by noting that the entire nation pays homage to the eternal sacrifices of the great martyrs of Army Public School Peshawar.
