LAHORE: Local Government Secretary Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi, highlighted the importance of the ‘Now villages will shine’ project, emphasizing the crucial role of hard work and dedication for the success of rural sanitation initiatives.
During a briefing on the ‘Ab Gaon Chamkein Ge’ programme, he issued instructions to the Local Government DG to address daily challenges in the project, emphasising the need for continuous improvement.
He stressed the acceleration of steps towards e-governance, calling for the full implementation of a paperless system within the department.
He proposed the creation of an e-library, integrating all local government rules and policies, making them easily accessible for officers and streamlining decision-making.
Additional Secretary Development Maria Tariq received instructions for third-party validation of foreign-aided projects. Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi urged all department officers and employees to work day and night for public interest. The meeting also involved a review of the use of foreign-funded projects, with a decision made to enhance the effectiveness of the local government complaint management system.
