CM orders paying minimum wages

LAHORE: Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi Thursday issued a directive to ensure payment of minimum wages in the province.

Expressing concern, Mohsin Naqvi called for decisive action against employers failing to comply with minimum wage regulations, demanding a comprehensive report on wage disbursements throughout the Punjab province.

He emphasised that industries and other institutions must uphold the responsibility of meeting the minimum wage standards, deeming the non-implementation of such standards as unfortunate.

Assuring the rights of workers, the chief minister affirmed that the government would take all necessary measures to rectify any lapses.

CM, Philippines envoy discuss nurses’ training

The Ambassador of the Philippines, Maria Agnes M Cervantes, held a meeting with the chief minister at the CM's Office, focusing on enhancing cooperation in nursing, pharmaceuticals, and medicine. Discussions included the potential exchange of professional skills between Punjab Police and the Philippine Police. An MoU was decided for nursing training, wherein the Philippines will train 1,000 female students from Punjab.

Mohsin Naqvi endorsed the proposal of mutual admissions for students from Filipino and Punjab universities. He extended an invitation to the Philippine ambassador to visit police headquarters, Safe City, and other key locations.

Approves Green hydrogen project

The chief minister approved the Green Hydrogen Project, urging the development of a comprehensive plan for its implementation in Punjab.

In a meeting chaired by the chief minister, the project was assessed as a vital alternative energy source for the province. He emphasised the inevitability of hydrogen use as an alternative energy in the future, highlighting its environmental friendliness.

The secretary of energy briefed the CM on the project, with a specific focus on Grey, Blue, and Green Hydrogen Energy. The briefing outlined the modern technology involved in electrolysing water to separate oxygen and hydrogen. The project is expected to save $38 million in foreign exchange for Punjab, generating job opportunities.

Cholistan rally, South Punjab Mela

A special meeting, chaired by the chief minister, was convened to deliberate on the Department of Tourism, with a particular focus on the 19th Cholistan Desert Rally. Approval was granted for the seven-day South Punjab Mela in Bahawalpur.

Condoles death of DC’s mother

The chief minister extended condolences on the death of mother of Deputy Commissioner of Bahawalpur Zaheer Anwar and cancelled his scheduled visit to Bahawalpur. The new tour date will be announced at a later time.

Visits Khidmat Markaz

The chief minister visited Liberty Police Khidmat Markaz and ordered fixing a period of two weeks for retaking the driving test. He issued orders on-the-spot to redress the complaints of delay in renewal of the licence.

Mohsin Naqvi while talking with the citizens assured that the citizens visiting the Khidmat Centres from 25th December can avail advance appointment. The facility to install licence and learner application on the android and apple will be provided. The citizens can obtain their licence and learner through the website.
