Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) women wing’s secretary general Dr Humaira Tariq said on Thursday that her party would ensure the rights to inheritance, education and justice for women in the country, if elected to the parliament in the upcoming general polls.
Addressing a press conference at JI Karachi headquarters Idara Noor-e-Haq, Tariq said that women rights as enshrined in the Quran and Hadith were an integral part of their electoral manifesto and political programme.
She said that the JI had vowed to abolish all legal impediments that obstructed the provision of rights to women in the society. She added that the JI was the only party in the country which had already announced its manifesto for the general election scheduled on February 8 next year.
She commented that the upcoming polls would be held in a scenario, where every newborn baby was in a debt of Rs260,000. She remarked that on the other hand, corrupt politicians and bureaucrats had written off their hundreds of billions of rupees loans from the national exchequer.
She said that the JI had emerged as the best alternative for the nation, having a committed political team equipped with honesty and capabilities for the development and progress of the country. She opined that education was the basic right of women and it was an obligation on the parents and the state to ensure its accessibility for women in the society.
Speaking of the health issues of women, she said that her party would bring betterment in this regard, when brought to power. She added that the JI was like a secure family for women in the society. She appealed to the masses to vote for her party in the next election. Other leaders of the JI women wing, including Attia Nisar, Samina Saeed, Samia Raheel Qazi, Tayyiba Atif, Rakshinda Muneeb, Asma Safeer, Alia Mansoor and Fariha Ashraf among others also attended the press conference.
