Crackdown on electricity, gas theft
Islamabad: During a crackdown on electricity and gas thievery, the Anti-Electricity & Gas Theft Unit (AE&GU) of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) have arrested tens people involved in thievery in domestic and commercial areas and booked them under relevant charges, the FIA spokesman said.
The AE&GU located a farming society where gas was being stolen from main pipeline of Sui Northern Gas and distributed to different farmhouses located in D-17, and conducted raid, arresting dozens of people involved in theft.
The FIA spokesman said that the people of administration of the Islamabad Farming Corporative Society involved in stealing gad from the main pipeline, have been rounded up for further investigation.
The AE&GU has disconnected illegal connection causing lose to the government of millions of rupees. The spokesman said that the action was taken on the complaint of Sui Gas Pipeline administration, adding that the team has initiated conducting raids to hunt the remaining suspects down.
