LAHORE : Provincial Secretary Transport Ahmad Javaid Qazi in a meeting discussed the measures taken to control smog on Wednesday.
He stated that Punjab Transport Department has imposed restrictions on the use of smoke-emitting vehicles and non-standard fuels throughout the province under the Punjab Environment Protection (Control and Prevention) Smog Rules 2023. He said that 1,566 vehicles were checked across Punjab out of which 36 were impounded, penalties were issued to 196 and fines amounting to Rs430,500 were also imposed.
