Rawalpindi: City Traffic Police of Rawalpindi on directives of Additional Inspector General Police (Traffic) Punjab, have tightened noose around under-aged driver to avert any Lahore-like tragedy.
A spokesman of City Traffic Police said that traffic police issued 5,440 challans, while checking under-aged drivers while 1,744 FIRs were also registered at different police stations of Rawalpindi city in the last one year. Similarly, the traffic police also issued 52,514 challans on violation of one-way rule while 21,329 smoke-emitting vehicles were also challaned.
The traffic police also issued challans to 114,184 motorcyclists for not using helmets. During the same period, the traffic police also issued 54,831 to drivers not having driving licenses also registered 777 FIRs for same violation. Spokesman said that City Traffic Officer has directed all the circle in-charges and sector in-charges to continue their special campaign against violators of traffic rules without any relaxation.
Police arrest 15 gamblers
Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi District Police here on Monday arrested 15 gamblers allegedly involved in gambling on cock fight and recovered Rs61,580 cash stake money, nine mobile phones and other items from their possession.
According to a police spokesman, Rattaamral Police acting on a tip-off conducted a raid in its jurisdiction and arrested 15 gamblers namely Moiz, Bilal, Husnain, Rizwan, Amir, Taimoor, Sher Rehman, Hamza, Shakeel and others. Police have registered a case against all the accused and further investigation was underway, he added.
