PMA expresses concern over health reforms
LAHORE:The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA), Lahore, has expressed concern over the abolition of the four-tier service structure in the Punjab Health Department, termed it a precursor to the denial of health facilities to the patients in public sector hospitals in the province.
‘The general cadre seats should not be abolished in the name of reforms in Punjab health department, which may cause demise of a system for provision of healthcare services,’ said PMA Lahore office-bearers during an emergency meeting held here Monday. PMA Lahore President, Prof Dr Ashraf Nizami presided over the meeting, while Prof Dr Shahid Malik, Prof Dr Khalid Mehmood Khan, Dr Wajid Ali, Dr Bushra Haq, Dr Riaz Zulqarnain Aslam, Dr Muhammad Sadiq, Dr Nadir Khan and members of the Board of Directors attended the meeting. They demanded the chief minister and the health minister hold talks with the PMA in this regard.
