Rs100m financial relief given to people in October
LAHORE : On the intervention of Ombudsman Punjab Maj (Retd) Azam Suleman Khan, financial relief of more than Rs100 million was given to people in the month of October.
According to Punjab Ombudsman’s spokesperson, in response to 91 notices taken in the month of October, relief was provided to the general public by resolving collective public problems at the grassroots.
The administration of the respective districts spent a total of Rs104,294,649 to resolve 46 diverse problems.
However, 45 other public issues did not incur any government expenditures for the actions taken by the relevant departments.
He said the Office of the Ombudsman Punjab shared the financial breakdown of the actions taken.
A sum of Rs5,286,959 was spent to address 10 complaints related to sewerage lines’ repair while a modest outlay of Rs276,520 was made to cover open manholes.
A significant amount of Rs98,731,170 was invested in resolving 16 complaints regarding waste disposal and the cleanliness of streets and roads across different districts, the spokesman stated.
Notably, the administration and government departments concerned addressed 16 notices for the restoration of sewerage lines, two for covering manholes, 17 for waste disposal and solid waste management and another 10 for repair and maintenance of streets and roads without any government expenditures, the spokesman concluded.
