LHC to hear today Imran’s plea against disqualification
LAHORE: Justice Shujaat Ali Khan of Lahore High Court will hear the plea filed against five-year disqualification of former chairman PTI on Friday (today).
Barrister Gohar and Ali Zafar stated in the petition that the Election Commission had disqualified chairman PTI Imran Khan as a member of the assembly for five years on August 8, 2023.
They said the Election Commission had taken illegal steps to disqualify the petitioner from the elections. The date of the elections has been announced on the orders of the Supreme Court, they said.
“The petitioner wants to participate in the elections and the allegations levelled against him are baseless,” they pleaded. The petitioner requested the court to annul five-year disqualification of PTI chairman. The notification of disqualification should be suspended till the final decision of the application, they stated.
