Moot lays emphasis on research work in varsities
LAHORE: Punjab University Hailey College of Banking & Finance (HCBF) organised the 8th International Conference on Banking, Insurance & Business Management (CBIBM-23) here Thursday.
On this occasion, Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) Chairman Prof Dr Shahid Munir, PU Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Abdullah Khan Durrani, Dean Faculty of Commerce Prof Dr Mubbsher Munawar Khan, HCBF Principal Dr Ahmed Muneeb Mehta, educationist, researchers, faculty members and students were present.
In his address, Dr Shahid Munir said that organising such events was important to promote the culture of research in the country. He emphasised on research work in universities according to the requirements of modern times. Prof Dr Abdullah Khan Durrani said that the students of PU HCBF could play a role in the improvement of the country's economy. He said that such conferences give young scholars an opportunity to learn from the ideas and experiences of experts.
Dr Ahmed Muneeb Mehta highlighted the importance of research papers. He said that the purpose of organising the conference was to highlight awareness for research among young students.
Student leadership workshop concludes
The four-day student leadership development and programming training workshop for public sector universities hosted by the University of Engineering & Technology (UET) concluded here Thursday.
The training was organised by the USAID's Higher Education System Strengthening Activity (HESSA) and facilitated by international trainers, including Gwendolyn Schaefer, Carrie Johnson, John Estephanous from the Institute of International Education USA, and Dr Kevin D’Arco from Duke University. The event brought together directors, managers, and university officials working in the student affairs section on their respective campuses.
The participants received an in-depth and participatory training from international experts on topics, including student programming and student leadership development focusing on student organisation/society best practices, how to advise student organisations, and developing a plan for student leadership development. The training will be followed up by mentoring sessions with the HESSA partner universities, as well as online training, to assist them to achieve their strategic goals.
