Minister underscores govt’s commitment to health sector projects

LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Planning and Development, Bilal Afzal, presided over a meeting at the C&W Department, reviewing the progress of hospital revamping projects in Punjab.

The meeting saw the presence of Secretary C&W Sohail Ashraf, Secretary Health Ali Jan Khan, and senior officials from the Departments of Communication and Works and Health. During the session, secretary health provided a comprehensive overview of the expansion and reconstruction projects for third-level hospitals, nursing colleges, and hostels associated with medical colleges across the province.

He highlighted the ongoing work on reconstruction and expansion projects for 125 hospitals in Punjab. Secretary C&W updated the participants on the projects under way for major hospitals in Punjab, including Children's Hospital, Mayo Hospital, Ganga Ram Hospital, General Hospital, Allied Hospital Faisalabad, and Holy Family Hospital Rawalpindi, prioritising these initiatives.

The minister emphasised the Punjab government's substantial financial commitment to the expansion and reconstruction of health sector projects. He directed to furnish a report detailing the progress, completed stages, and current status of hospital construction projects to CM Punjab. Emphasising adherence to government timelines, he stressed no compromise on construction material quality, maintaining the reputable standing of the C&W Department. Bilal Afzal underscored the importance of strictly following relevant SOPs for hospital building construction and expansion.
