ISLAMABAD: The leaked audio call issue between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi and her counsel Sardar Latif Khosa has reached the Islamabad High Court.
Bushra Bibi filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court against the recording and leaking of the audio call and submitted that making the conversation between a lawyer and a client public would disrupt the legal system.
The petition said petitioner Bushra Bibi is the wife of the former prime minister and Sardar Latif Khosa is her lawyer, while the conversation between the lawyer and the client was recorded and leaked.
The audio call between Bushra Bibi and lawyer Khosa was distorted and made public in the media in a twisted fashion with the aim to harass the petitioner and affect her family life.
The petition stated that the prime minister’s secretary, defence secretary and interior secretary and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority chairman have already submitted before the court that no agency is allowed to record conversations of citizens secretly. It alleged that the audio call was not only recorded but also made public by through the PTA and agencies.
The court was requested to direct the federal government’s institutions and law enforcement agencies to desist from recording phone calls and making them public, and to remove all spying devices.
