Pakistan Advertisers Society (PAS) held its 26th Annual General Body Meeting on December 1 in Karachi. The meeting was attended by all the office-bearers, elected council members and the representative members of Pakistan Advertisers Society.
The chairperson of the Society, Dr Zeelaf Munir, commenced the meeting with an overview of the successful initiatives executed in the last two years by PAS.
The executive director of PAS, Qamar Abbas, presented the key initiatives of 2023 along with some important industry insights and future opportunities followed by a presentation by Afsheen Rizavi, general manager, PAS, on new initiatives like MADsemble, Simorgh Awards, Pakistan Young Lions Competition and the flagship programme Effie Awards Pakistan.
After this, Qamar Abbas and Asima Haq unveiled the new vision and mission of the Society and shared the visual identity. The Council elections were also part of the proceedings as 2023 marks the end of the two-year tenure of the current Council and office- bearers. The newly elected council comprises of 12 members.
Farheen Salman Amir, president BSPAN and general manager Pakistan - Lipton Teas & Infusion, was elected as the new chairperson of the Society. Asima Haq, business head, Beauty, Wellbeing and Personal Care - Unilever Pakistan, and Faisal Rana, Head of Communications and Marketing – Nestle Pakistan, were elected as the vice chairpersons, and Humayun Shaikh, marketing director - Shan Foods, as the general secretary of the Society.
Other newly elected Execu.ve Council members include Fahad Saleem, senior brand director -Proctor & GamblePakistan, Nauman Khan, CEO, Asian Consumer Care (Dabur Pakistan), Shahzain Munir, executive director, EBM, Asif Aziz, chief business officer JAZZ, Ali Rashid Khan, director Marketing National Foods, Raheel Yousuf, head of Marketing and Brand Management- Bank Alfalah, and Syed Usman Qaiser, head of marketing- Jubilee Life Insurance. Hassan Sherwani, general manager, Marketing, Commercial Strategy and Business Development, PEL was appointed as the chair of the Regional Committee. Recognizing the contribution of Dr Zeelaf Munir, she was presented with a shield and honoured with a title of Emeritus Council Member of the Society in sincere gratitude for her compassion, guidance and outstanding leadership.
Thanking all the outgoing council and the office-bearers, and welcoming the newly elected council, Qamar Abbas said: “The unwavering support of the board, their commitment and dedication to the cause is what encourages all of us to push our boundaries and do more for the industry. I also thank all the member companies, as each one of them has played an integral part in making our initiatives successful, specifically the new ones. Without them, we wouldn’t be able to achieve what we have this year.”
The new council will start its term from 1st of January 2024. The AGM ended on a high note with Dr Zeelaf Munir’s speech, where she handed the chair to Farheen Amir, and thanked all the members of the society and specially the council for their immense support during her tenure. She said: “With this year, my two-year term as Chairperson of PAS comes to an end. As I look back on my journey at the helm of this diverse, progressive, and constructive society – there have been many initiatives that fill me with pride. It was an honour to serve all the members of the Society and the industry and I will remain fully committed to be part of this journey and cannot be more confident in handing over the reins to the new Chair and the Executive Committee standing with the PAS Management.”
