MARDAN: While the administration employees have been protesting for over a month, the Academic Staff Association of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) also continued its protest for the second consecutive day against the university administration.
The teaching staff have set up a protest camp in front of the vice-chancellor’s office. A significant number of teaching staff participated in the protest.
A statement from the Academic Staff Association president and general secretary said the protest had been initiated to draw attention to the administration’s negligence in addressing the issues of the faculty and resolving them with seriousness.
The university’s non-teaching staff has already been on strike for the last more than one month. They said the protest would continue against the indifference of the vice-chancellor Zahoorul Haq and till their genuine demands were acknowledged.
They said their demands included ending the exploitation of university employees, addressing relief and wage increase issues, and reversing the decision to transfer 350 employees.
