PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Tuesday directed the caretaker government to submit its reply on a writ petition filed against the suspension of the treatment under the Sehat Sahulat Card.
A two-member PHC bench consisting of Justice Ijaz Anwar and Justice SM Atiq Shah heard the petition and issued notices to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief secretary and secretary health to appear before the court.
It may be mentioned here that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) former Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Fazal Elahi had moved the PHC against the suspension of treatment under the Sehat Sahulat Card.
The MPA filed the writ petition through his lawyer Shah Faisal Ilyas Advocate. The federal and provincial governments, Health secretary, State Life Insurance of Pakistan and others were made respondents in the petition.
The petitioner said that the PTI government launched the Sehat Sahulat Programme to provide free health treatment to the patients in KP. He said the government had introduced proper legislation for this purpose. He said the caretaker provincial government suspended the programme, adding that it was not mandated to suspend the Sehat Sahulat card.
