MBBS, BDS admissions: UHS issues revised schedule
LAHORE:The University of Health Sciences (UHS), on Tuesday, issued a revised schedule for the display of merit and selection lists of public and private sector medical and dental colleges in Punjab for session 2023-24.
According to UHS spokesperson, the provisional merit list for government medical and dental colleges will now be displayed on Dec 8, and the final merit list on Dec 12. The first college-wise selection list for MBBS will be published on Dec 15, with the deadline for fee submission set for Dec 20.
The second selection list for govt medical colleges will be released on Dec 22, and the third on Dec 29. The schedule for selection lists of BDS for public dental colleges will remain the same as previously notified.
The spokesperson said the provisional merit list for private medical and dental colleges will be issued on Dec 18. Changes in the schedule of merit and selection lists were made due to the re-conduct of MDCAT in Sindh and KP in compliance with the directives of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council.
UHS, Canadian varsity to collaborate
A four-member delegation from Memorial University (MU) Canada visited the University of Health Sciences (UHS) on Tuesday.
Led by MU Vice-President Dr Ian Sutherland, the delegation, including Associate Vice-President Dr Mumtaz Cheema, Director Internationalisation Dr Sonja Knutson, and Assistant Professor of Nursing Dr Kimberly Jarvis, met with UHS Vice-Chancellor Prof Ahsan Waheed Rathore.
They discussed collaboration in nursing programmes between the two universities. The delegation was apprised that the provincial government had doubled the seats for BS nursing under the directives of the chief minister. UHS VC expressed the institution's aspiration to establish a PhD nursing faculty and invited Canadian faculty members to supervise students.
Moot on ‘Research in Special Education-2023’
Punjab University (PU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood has stressed taking care of special people and considering them equal members of the society
He was addressing the fourth national conference on ‘Research in Special Education-2023’ organised by PU Institute of Special Education at Al Raazi Hall. On this occasion, Director Institute of Special Education Prof Dr Humera Bano, former chairman of the Department of Special Education Prof Dr Abdul Hameed, special persons, faculty members, researchers and students were present.
In his address, Dr Khalid Mahmood said that the struggles and achievements of special persons created a sense of inferiority amongst human beings. He said that every member of the society has special needs which should be taken care of.
Turkish varsity Rector visits PU
Rector Usak University, Turkiye Dr Ekem Savas visited Punjab University and called on Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood.
PU External Linkages Director Dr Sobia Khurram and deans of various faculties were also present on the occasion. Dr Ekem Savas briefed the meeting that the university had 14 faculties with more than 100 departments. He invited all the participants to visit Usak University, Turkiye.
