PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) chief Aftab Sherpao said on Sunday that a judicial commission headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) should be formed to probe the Panama Leaks.

Speaking at a press conference here, he said the Panama Papers had triggered a controversy, so the government should order an impartial probe into the matter to establish facts.Aftab Sherpao rejected the announcement of the federal government to form a commission under a retired judge.

The QWP leader reiterated the demand for holding a fresh population census without any further delay. “I will raise this issue on the floor of the National Assembly and will write a letter to the prime minister. A copy of the declaration of the all-parties conference convened by our party will also be sent to the premier,” he maintained.

Aftab Sherpao said an environment of trust-deficit still existed between Pakistan and Afghanistan. He said that levelling allegations and making irresponsible statements would deepen the mistrust between the two neighbouring countries.

He asked the federal government to announce a comprehensive package for rehabilitation and reconstruction activities in Fata. He added that a decision about the fate of Fata should be made as soon as possible in order to bring the tribal population into the mainstream of life.
