Several members quit PTI in Mardan
MARDAN: Several office-bearers and elected representatives of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Fatima Union Council announced on Monday to leave the party.
Addressing a news conference at Mardan Press Club, PTI senior vice president Lal Johar and village council Gaddar representative Mohammad Riaz stated that due to the attitude of the party leadership, several other activists were also considering leaving the party.
They expressed concern that the claimants of change and democracy within the party have engaged in favouritism during intra-party elections, urging the Election Commission to take notice of what they called the PTI’s internal selection process.
They mentioned that PTI Chairman Imran Khan, before coming to power, championed slogans of change, development of national institutions, and improving the lives of the poor.
However, after assuming power, he allegedly failed to fulfil his promises, bringing a corrupt group to the forefront and allowing them to govern the country for four years.
They criticised Imran Khan for spending his time denigrating institutions and engaging in slander, which they said benefited the country’s enemies and set a negative example for the younger generation.
The speakers emphasised that PTI workers were disillusioned with Imran and his policies, leading to a significant number of them leaving the party.A large number of union council workers were also present at the presser. Subsequently, they gathered in front of the press club to protest against the PTI’s recent intra-party election, asserting that PTI is no longer a democratic party.
