Funds sought for Bajaur hospitals
KHAR: The doctors and paramedical staff of the three category-D hospitals in the Bajaur tribal district have not been paid for the last 10 months, which has badly affected the provision of healthcare services to the local people.
The elders of the respective areas and staff of these hospitals have appealed to the caretaker provincial government to release funds for payment of salaries to employees to ensure smooth functioning of the health facilities.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department had earlier in June 2022 opened category-D hospitals in Pashat area of Salarzai tehsil, Larkholozo area of Mamond and Nawagi under the public-private partnership. These hospitals were providing round the clock emergency, outpatients department, medicine store, operation theatre, labour room and specialist doctors’ facilities.
