Instead of categorizing Afghan refugees as legal or illegal, the government should have differentiated between those who are involved in criminal/subversive activities and those who are abiding by the law and seeking refuge from war and persecution along with better opportunities for their children.
One can imagine the misery many of these refugees will face without shelter or means of livelihood when they return home. Thousands of them will likely be compelled to beg for food and warm clothes while braving the cold winters. Young girls will be denied an education and the boys will roam the streets without any hope of a better future.
