ISLAMABAD: The accountability court was informed on Thursday that former premier and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) supremo Nawaz Sharif had not demanded a car from Toshakhana and no document was available to prove any such demand.
Nawaz Sharif’s lawyer Qazi Misbah appeared before Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Bashir, who was hearing a Toshakhana reference against former premiers Nawaz Sharif and Yusuf Raza Gilani, former president Asif Ali Zardari, and others.
Qazi Misbah informed the court that Nawaz Sharif had joined the investigation and submitted replies to a questionnaire, given to him. He said when the NAB reference was filed in 2019, his client was suffering from serious health issues.
National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Prosecutor Irfan Bhola and Sohail Arif also joined the court proceedings.
In response to the arguments of Qazi Misbah, the court asked the NAB prosecutor, “What should be done now?”
The prosecutor said the bureau would look into the issue for further action. He sought time for occurrence of further developments. After arguments, the judge adjourned the hearing till Dec 20.
