Trials for table tennis players this week
PESHAWAR: Trials for talent hunt of table tennis players in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under the Prime Minister Youth Program would commence from the first week of December under the supervision of the Islamia College University (ICU)
The announcement was made by ICU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Gul Majeed Khan at a ceremony to this effect here on Thursday.Director ICU Sports, Secretary Organising Committee Ali Hoti and basketball coach, Firdous Afridi, were present on the occasion.
Dr Gul Majeed said that as per the decision of the Higher Education Commission HEC) the ICU had been tasked with conducting trials for table tennis. He said that the province would be divided into five regions. The trials will be conducted in phases.
In Peshawar region, the trials will be held on December 4, 5 and 6, in Mardan region on December 7, 8 and 9, in Hazara on December 13, 14 and 15, in Swat on December 18, 19 and 20 and in Bannu on December 27, 28 and 29.
The vice-chancellor said two members of the selection committee had been nominated from other provinces to ensure transparency and upholding merit.He said two members of the selection committee — Maqsood and Nadeem — hailed from Punjab and the remaining four including Amina Mehmud, Kifayatullah Khan, Khwaja Haseeb and Iqraur Rahman belonged to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
