Anti-PPP forces in Sindh converging on GDA’s platform, says Pir Pagara
The people of Sindh are awaiting alternative leadership for the resolution of their issues and the anti-Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) forces in the province were converging on the platform of the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA).
GDA and Pakistan Muslim League-Functional chief Pir Pagara Sibghatullah Shah Rashdi said this in a consultative meeting held on Thursday at the Kingri House, Karachi.
Besides notable GDA leaders, former Sindh chief minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim also participated in the meeting with his associates, which has fueled the speculations that he would join the alliance after leaving the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
It was earlier reported by some local media outlets that Rahim had decided to leave the PTI. His meeting with GDA leaders suggests that he could be the next big gun to jump off the PTI’s ship.
Rahim has been part of the anti-PPP camp in Sindh for several years. In July 2021, he was appointed by then prime minister Imran Khan as his special assistant on Sindh affairs.
A statement issued by the GDA confirmed Rahim’s participation in the meeting. According to the statement, the Pir Pagara told the meeting that he would extend the party platform to relieve the oppressed people of Sindh from the oppression they had been facing for the past several years.
